Frequently Asked Questions
What's your cancellation policy?
I charge your full session fee for missed sessions (no-shows) and any cancellations with less than 24-hour notice.
I aim to be flexible, so if we are able to reschedule within the same calendar week (Monday - Thursday), I will not charge you for the canceled session.
Do you work with other issues outside of your specialities?
Yes. I am able to provide effective treatment for more generalized mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, etc. During your free consultation call, I'll ask you to share a bit about what you're dealing with and if it's something I don't have much experience with, I'll let you know and help connect you with a better fit if necessary.
Are sessions confidential?
Generally speaking, yes, what you share in therapy is confidential. Without your written consent, I won’t share what you say in sessions nor confirm/deny that you are my client. However, there are a few situations where I’m legally required to break confidentiality. These include:
- If you share that you have an imminent plan to seriously harm yourself.
- You express a serious threat of violence against a specific, identifiable person.
- If I learn about abuse or neglect of a child, dependent adult, or elder.
- If I’m ordered by a court to release information about our sessions.
I deeply respect your privacy and believe trust is essential for effective therapy. If any of the above situations ever come up, I will always do my best to talk with you about it first and support you through the process.
When do you schedule sessions?
I schedule sessions between 10:00am and 4:00pm (eastern time), Monday through Thursday.
What tech do you use for sessions?
Sessions take place over a secure video-conferencing platform called SimplePractice. If you're on a computer, the platform is browser-based. If you're using a smartphone, you will need to download the app. About 10 minutes before each appointment, you'll be emailed a unique URL link for that session.
Why California and Vermont?
Seems random, doesn't it? I started my private practice in the Los Angeles area where I lived for many years. I relocated to Vermont a few years ago and obtained my license here. I still love my Californians, so I'm maintaining a current license there as well. 🙂
