PTSD

& Painful Experiences

Trauma can shape the way you see yourself, others, and the world - sometimes without you even realizing it. Maybe you feel stuck in patterns of fear, anxiety, or self-doubt. Perhaps certain memories, sensations, or emotions feel overwhelming or impossible to escape. You might not think of what you’ve been through as trauma, but if past experiences are still affecting you in the present, your pain is real, it's valid, and it matters.

Healing doesn’t mean forgetting. It means making peace with the past so it no longer controls your future. In trauma therapy, we’ll create a safe space to process what you’ve been through, at your own pace, help your nervous system find balance, and help your mind find relief. You don’t have to keep carrying this alone. You were never meant to.

How it works

Build rapport and trust to ensure a safe & supportive space

Before diving into any trauma work, it's imperative to first establish trust within the relationship and tools to use to you feel stable and grounded.

Identify the experiences that have been holding you back.

We all cling to negative stories that come from experiences that seemed to "prove" to us these stories are true and factual.

Safely process and integrate the pain to make space for the power.

Using EMDR and other safe approaches, we'll help your brain fully integrate past experiences and write newer, empowering stories.

Move from surviving into thriving.

With trauma no longer defining you, you can fully engage in your life and move forward with confidence and better self-worth.

What is EMDR Therapy?

Similar to the way in which your body naturally knows how to heal a physical wound, your brain typically processes and makes sense of all of your experiences without you even thinking about it. But when something overwhelming or traumatic happens, like a car accident, the loss of a loved one, or prolonged fear, the event can get stuck in the "wrong part" of your brain.

Instead of being fully integrated, difficult experiences may remain “frozen” in your mind and body, leading to distressing emotions, thoughts, and reactions. EMDR Therapy, which stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, helps “unstick” these memories so your brain can heal.

Many people find that EMDR helps them feel relief faster than traditional talk therapy. Through guided eye movements or other gentle techniques, EMDR activates your brain’s natural ability to process and resolve traumas, similar to the way in which your body naturally knows how to heal a physical wound.
