About My Fees & Private Pay
A transparent overview of my fees, reduced-fee options, and why I use a private-pay model.
I know that cost is an important part of choosing a therapist. But I don't want it to be the most important. Below is an overview of how I structure my fees, why I work outside of insurance networks, and how I strive to keep therapy as accessible as possible through both reduced-fee and community-access options.
My goal is openness and clarity, so you can make the choice that feels right for your life and circumstances.
Why Private Pay?
I’m often asked why I don’t work directly with insurance companies. For the type of specialized, nuanced work I offer, a private-pay model allows for much more autonomy, privacy, and choice.
Working outside of insurance means:
- No mental health diagnosis is required to start or continue therapy.
- Your personal information is not shared or added to your permanent medical record.
- The frequency and duration of therapy are determined collaboratively, not by insurance.
- More flexibility to address what matters, without the limit of “medical necessity.”
If your insurance plan includes out-of-network (OON) benefits and you'd like to utilize those, I can provide a monthly superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. * Please note that a diagnosis is required for you to claim any available reimbursement.
Fees & Payment
My full fee is $220 per 50-minute session. I believe quality therapy should be a right, not a privilege. As such, part of how I’m able to provide reduced-fee options (see below) is through the support of clients who are able to comfortably pay my full fee.
When those who can afford it choose to pay my full rate, it directly sustains the availability of lower-fee options for others. In this way, my practice remains both accessible and balanced. It's a quiet form of community care that supports people with a wide range of financial realities.
If you’re unsure which option is a fit for you, we can talk openly about fees during your consultation or at any point in our work together. I aim to find a fee agreement that is workable, respectful, and aligned with your needs.
Available Reduced Fee Options
Standard Reduced Fee: $125-$200
For people who need a moderately discounted rate, I am able to offer fees in this range to support your ability to access a great therapeutic fit.
Community Access Fee: $40–$70
For people with significant financial barriers, I offer these rates through Open Path Collective. Availability is limited, and membership with Open Path is required.
How to Pay
I use a secure credit card processing system for mental health providers called
Ivy Pay. There's no app for you to download, and you only need to enter your card information once. I'll help you get set up at the end of your first session. It only takes a minute, and unless you need to update your card, you don't have to worry about it again!
